The FLX AI Hub

In Fall 2024, the FLCC Board of Trustees made a visionary investment in our region's future by funding the AI Thinktank and Lab. That initial step sparked conversations across campus about AI's transformative impact on education, work, and daily life. Thanks to the Thinktank's pioneering work, we are proud to introduce the next step in this journey: the FLX AI Hub.

Our Goal

To serve our community-businesses, government, & educators-with equitable AI integration that fosters lifelong learning & regional progress.

There are three pillars of focus - the local businesses, the community, and the modern educator. The FLX AI Hub will be offering learning opportunities tailored to these domains.

Local Business & Government

Support economic development in the Finger Lakes region by offering AI consulting, training, and applied research services tailored to the needs of small and medium-sized businesses.

Community Learning

Promote inclusive digital literacy and AI awareness for all community members through accessible, non-credit education and outreach.

Modern Educator

Empower K-12 educators with foundational knowledge and practical skills in artificial intelligence (AI), enabling them to integrate AI concepts into classroom instruction and foster ethical, inclusive, and future-ready learning environments.

Learning Opportunities

AI For the Community 101

This hands-on introduction to artificial intelligence is designed for anyone with little or no technical background. You’ll learn core AI concepts, explore real-world tools through guided exercises, and discover how to apply AI in local nonprofits, small businesses, and civic projects—while also examining the ethics of using AI for social good.

AI for the Modern Educator 101

Specifically crafted for teachers and instructional designers new to AI, this course walks you through foundational AI ideas and practical classroom tools. You’ll practice using AI to streamline lesson planning, personalize learning experiences, and provide effective feedback—all framed by best practices and ethical guidelines for responsible teaching.
